Flavia Zagato Sport

"Aggressively off-beat and controversial in its styling, the tidy detailing of the bodywork and the aerodynamics allow this Flavia Sport to cruise all day at 110mph."

A nett quoted power of 100bhp, or 105bhp with twin Weber carbs; 32 cars had Kugelfischer injection. The 1800cc version of the Flavia Sport could reach a maximum of 110mph and 0 to 60 in 11.9 seconds. It was 10 seconds faster to 100mph than the heavier PF coupé.

The Zagato Carrozzeria were building some outlandish bodies to fit conventional sports cars and the effort for Lancia for their Flavia was much more extreme than the rather prettier and better known Lancia Fulvia Zagato coupé. Most of the improvement in performance was down to the admittedly better drag co-efficient and lighter body work.  It was about 2cwt lighter than the PF coupé.

The Zagato Flavia Sport had some unusual features, never seen before, such as the motor driven opening rear window which could be operated by the driver while on the move.

The price of this very rare model was frighteningly high £2736 in 1965; you could get two MkII Jaguars for that. So Lancia played on snob appeal with adverts carrying slogans such as "The rich are different..."
