The Architect of the Flavia ~

Il Professore Antonio Fessia (1901-1968)

Before working for Lancia, il Professore worked for Fiat (1936-46) collaborating on the Topolino, for Ducati, and then joined Lancia in 1955. He worked on the Appia, then the Flaminia and finally the Flavia. He first designed a flat four engine in 1947. Irascible and an allegedly infamous womaniser, he was recognised as one of the finest engineers of his generation.  He was a gifted classical pianist too.
